Israel = Germany, 1932?

Haaretz quoted Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman as follows:

"We need to treat some Arab MKs like we treated Hamas," Lieberman told Tibi (Ra'am-Ta'al). "The option of revoking the citizenship of the branch of terrorist organizations within the Knesset will be kept open."

His qualification notwithstanding, the way Israel treated Hamas was to undermine Hamas' participation in peaceful democratic politics in January 2006 and then, in recent weeks, attempted mass murder. There is no question here of terrorism; Lieberman was referring to elected members of Israel's own government. Europeans in some countries can be jailed for making far less serious remarks about Jews; we shall see if Israel has the integrity to arrest Lieberman.
